What’s My Credit Limit?

The financial advisor from our doctor’s office called.  It’s now time to pay for the Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS), Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and the 1st year of embryo freezing.  If we were to do it per cycle (retrieval and transfer all at once) it would cost $4,500 to do the tests and freeze the embryos for 1 year.  Since we are doing 3 cycles before we do a transfer we were offered a “package deal” for $7000, which includes the testing and freezing (for 1 year)of up to 15 embryos.  It seems like a large chunk of change to lay out at once but we put it on a credit card and will make large payments each month, paying off the remainder with our Christmas bonus’.  This has been the only thing we’ve had to pay for besides co-pays and the drugs- haven’t even reached $500 yet so we are actually really lucky.  The tests and freezing are completely optional, which we chose for peace of mind and a much higher success rate- you can’t put a price on that!
